Arsenal – Manchester City Match Review and Highlights

On Sunday 2nd April Arsenal face off against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium in what could be one of the biggest matches of the season. Both sides need to win as they both aim to secure Champions League football for next season. Arsenal are currently a club surrounded with rumours and controversy as there’s doubts over the future of Arsene Wenger and ongoing rumours  that star man Alexis Sanchez is looking to leave North London.

Betting Tipsters are screaming that this is where the easiest money is – but I for one will not be betting on soccer against him anytime soon.

Arsenal go into the game in the midst of one of their worst runs of form in Arsene Wenger’s entire reign. In their last 5 games they have only won and those games were against minnows Sutton United and Lincoln City, both in the FA cup which isn’t saying much. The Gunners dreadful exit from the Champions League was the main talking point in their recent downfall as Bayern Munich exposed massive weaknesses in the Arsenal defence as they conceded 10 goals over the two legs. To top this off their last game in the

Premier League resulted in a 3-1 loss to West Brom. Without evening analysing Manchester City

it’s clear that they’ll be favourites for this one. Manchester City have also struggled in Europe

recently as they were knocked out of the Champions League to Monaco but a strong performance

against Liverpool shows that this shouldn’t be a cause of concern in the long term.

Previous meetings between the two sides have seen goals go in left, right and centre. Both sides

have very good attacking options but can sometimes appear vulnerable defensively. At times

seemingly everyone is baffled by the defensive tactics that Pep Guardiola employs which can be a downfall to the City side. As displayed by Bayern Munich if tactics are played correctly the Arsenal defence can be beaten with ease.

Same could be said for the chances of winning a high odds sporting bet that you place online – whether through one of the premier online bookmakers like William Hill or the less trustworthy sportsbet people online. The combination of this with the talent of players like

Aguero and Sanchez makes for a thrilling fixture. In the last 5 meetings between the two sides, in 4

of those games there has been more than 2 goals making a 2+ goals bet well worth a punt. Both

sides also scored in all of those 4 games meaning that a bet such as Manchester City to win and

both teams to score could be worth a shot.

Potential goalscorers.

Given that Gabriel Jesus is injured it would be a huge surprise if Sergio Aguero doesn’t start the

match and whenever he plays there’s almost the expectation that he will score. Given Arsenal’s

bad form and the game looking like it could be packed with goals I’d definitely back Aguero to

score. For Arsenal on the other hand regardless of how the match is going Alexis Sanchez is a

man capable of grabbing a goal with his individual brilliance. Sometimes the Chilean loses his cool

and he game suffers as a consequence but as long as he remains composed it wouldn’t be a long

shot to bet on him to score. But if you’re to compare Sanchez and Aguero it must be said that

Aguero appears to be much more likely to score.
